Flagged For Discussion

Two college football fans who probably love this sport more than we should. Hosted by Farbod Markazi and Jace Hatfield, Flagged for Discussion brings you weekly episodes diving into everything college football — from breaking down the biggest games to reacting to all the chaos, drama, and never-ending changes in the sport. We’ll call it how we see it, and we’re not afraid to get a little emotional about it… because that’s what being a fan is all about.

Welcome to Episode 48 of Flagged for Discussion! This is essentially two podcasts packed into one: a breakdown of an explosive Rivalry Week on the field, and a reaction to the unprecedented chaos off of it. The streak is dead! We break down Ohio State’s 27-9 victory over Michigan and discuss how the Buckeyes' offensive line completely neutralized the Wolverines, the "statement drive" that sealed the game, and why this win gets the monkey off Ryan Day’s back. We also head down south to breakdown the Iron Bowl scare…including Kalen DeBoer's gutsy 4th down call, then we discuss how Arch Manning's legs powered Texas past Texas A&M.
Of course, we can't ignore the coaching carousel spinning out of control. We break down the massive news of Lane Kiffin to LSU, then Ole Miss promoting Pete Golding immediately, and the ripple effects sending coaches to Florida, Arkansas, and Auburn. Is the "Lane Train" the right fit for Baton Rouge? And did Ole Miss make the right call pushing him out before the playoff?

It’s the biggest week of the college football season AND the biggest meal of the year. On this episode, Jace and Farbod serve up a massive plate of college football coverage to get you through the holiday. We kick things off by checking the receipts on our betting records…it’s neck and neck coming down the stretch. Then we dive into a special holiday edition of "Pass The Tiers, Please!" Jace ranks the Top 15 CFP teams based on Thanksgiving dinner staples, deciding who is "Food Coma" worthy and who is just a "Courtesy Bite."
Then, all eyes turn to The Big House for The Game. We break down the massive clash between #1 Ohio State and #18 Michigan. With snow in the forecast and a spread hovering around 10.5, we analyze if Bryce Underwood can set the tone for his career in Year 1 or if the Buckeyes’ physicality will finally overwhelm the Wolverines. We also compare the latest CFP rankings against our own F4D Poll to see where the committee got it wrong.
Finally, we have some fun with the coaching carousel in a new segment called "Stuff These Jobs!" We match open gigs like Florida, LSU, and Penn State to holiday sides—find out which job is the "Mashed Potatoes" and which is just "Bad Cornbread." We wrap it all up with our "Shot in the Bark" underdogs and our Week 14 predictions covering the Iron Bowl, the Egg Bowl, and the Lone Star Showdown.

Week 13 delivered fireworks. We open with #7 Oregon taking down #15 USC.  A game that showcased everything: USC’s absurd WR trio, Maiava’s highs and lows, Oregon’s dominant ground attack, Moore’s biggest performance yet, and whether the Ducks are peaking into playoff form at the right time.
Then we zoom out to the national picture. Conference races everywhere: Notre Dame surging, the ACC and AAC tightening, the SEC’s 4-man race, and the B1G seemingly headed toward a #1 vs #2 showdown, unless chaos strikes. Who controls their destiny and who needs a miracle?
To wrap it up, we dive into the drama: Justin Wilcox out at Cal, Lincoln Riley with a post-game blow-up, the Lane Kiffin mystery decision, Mike Norvell’s second chance shocker, and Dan Lanning taking a public swing at the SEC. What’s real and what’s noise?
Teams peaking at the right time. Coaching chaos everywhere. Exciting episode. Tap in.

It’s Week 13, and the sport is delivering chaos at every level. We open with the James Franklin news as he emerges as the next head coach at Virginia Tech…but what does this mean for both VT and Penn State moving forward? We break down the hire, the ripple effects, and why a “good fire” can still be a “good hire.”
Then we dive into the heavyweight matchup of the weekend: #15 USC at #7 Oregon. We analyze every angle: USC’s elite WR room, their run-defense weakness, Oregon’s linebacker issues, the injury report, playoff implications, and whether this is the biggest game of the Lincoln Riley era. Plus, we update the F4D Poll Version 4 as the playoff picture tightens.
Later, we hit the Lane Kiffin drama: reports of ultimatums, family scouting trips, program pressure, and whether Ole Miss would actually bench him during a playoff run. What’s real and what’s smoke?
We close with Shot in the Bark, our Week 13 Picks, and the F4D Four-Legger.
Trojans–Ducks. Franklin’s new beginning. Kiffin Chaos. It’s a massive show. Tap in.

Week 12 delivered a seismic shakeup as Oklahoma upset Alabama 23–21 in a game where the Tide simply could not get out of their own way. Despite outgaining the Sooners by nearly 200 yards, dominating time of possession, and moving the ball consistently, Alabama imploded with turnovers, penalties, and another costly fumble from Ty Simpson… his fifth straight game with one. Oklahoma didn’t need an explosive offense, they won through situational execution, a defensive pick-six, and forcing Alabama into mistake after mistake.
We break down the entire Week 12 board: Notre Dame rolling, Virginia ending Duke’s ACC hopes and USC’s second-half surge to beat Iowa. It was a wild, uneven, and revealing weekend across the country. Then we dive into our BUCKET or CHUCK-IT segment, placing Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana, Ohio State, Alabama, and Oklahoma into categories based on their November trajectory. Who’s peaking, who’s steady, and who may have already played their best football?

Welcome back to Flagged for Discussion… Episode 43 is STACKED. 🏈
We kick things off with a massive Texas vs Georgia preview as the Longhorns travel to Athens for a primetime brawl that could define the CFP race. Georgia’s defense looks like it’s rounding into championship form, while Texas has started to find its groove… but who really has the edge in the trenches? We break down everything from Nate Frazier’s breakout game to Arch Manning’s redemption arc and what each team needs to control the line of scrimmage.
Then it’s time to react to the CFP Top 25 and unveil The F4D Poll 3.0, where chaos continues to reign. Oregon, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech are all battling for top-10 legitimacy, while we debate whether Georgia’s resume deserves the 5-spot.
Later, Jace quizzes Farbod in Blind Resume Rankings, testing whether his eyes match the data… listen and guess along!
Of course, we’ve got Shot in the Bark (can Northwestern cover in Wrigley?), our Week 12 Picks, and the latest edition of the Four-Legger Parlay.

Oregon goes into the storm and out-Iowas Iowa: 263 yards on the ground, an injury list a mile long, and a game-winning drive in the rain. We recap the gutsiest win of the Dan Lanning era and what it means for the Ducks’ playoff hopes.
Plus, a full Week 11 breakdown: BYU gets shut down in Lubbock, the ACC spirals into total chaos, and Florida’s QB situation hits rock bottom. We also dive into the state of college football media, discussing what may be broken in CFB media and about where fans can still get real football conversation… and how we’re trying to bring that back.

Welcome to Episode 41 of Flagged for Discussion! The first CFP rankings are out, and the committee left plenty to debate. From BYU sneaking ahead of Texas Tech to the SEC’s questionable boost for Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Alabama, we dive into all the inconsistencies, eyebrow-raisers, and “eye test” arguments fueling this week’s playoff discourse. Who’s actually earned their spot… and who’s riding brand bias?
Then, it’s time to unveil the F4D Poll 2.0: Our second official Top 25, built on logic, resume, and performance instead of preseason perception. We explain why Oregon climbs, how Indiana and Texas A&M hold their ground, and what makes Iowa, Vandy, and Louisville legit dark horses as November football hits full stride.
From there, the focus shifts to the weekend’s biggest matchups. Oregon heads to Iowa in a rugged, cold-weather showdown that will test trench strength and toughness more than finesse. Can the Ducks handle Kinnick’s chaos, or will Iowa’s defense and the elements tilt the balance? Plus, a top-10 Big 12 collision as BYU visits Texas Tech… the winner likely punching its ticket to the conference title game, while the loser might see their playoff hopes vanish.
We wrap with Shot in the Bark, our Week 11 Picks, and the F4D Four-Legger… which somehow keeps finding new ways to miss by one leg.

Welcome to Episode 40 of Flagged for Discussion! The FREEZE BURN is real…Auburn has officially fired Hugh Freeze after a disastrous 10–3 loss to Kentucky at home. We dive deep into how it all unraveled: Freeze’s 15-19 record in two and a half seasons, the Tigers’ slide to second to last in the SEC in total offense, and a QB carousel that never found its footing. We also break down what this means for Auburn’s future, the $15.8 million buyout, and how the SEC’s “Buyout Era” continues to spiral out of control.
Then it’s time for our Week 10 Picks Recap, as Jace gains ground with a 6-4 week while Farbod still struggles at 4-6. We revisit the wild finishes across the slate, from Oklahoma surviving in Knoxville to Ole Miss rolling through South Carolina and Texas barely escaping Vanderbilt. Plus, we made FFD HISTORY in Shot in the Bark and a cursed F4D Parlay that’s still searching for redemption after a brutal stretch.
Finally, the Clean Up Crew hits everything else from a chaotic weekend: Nebraska loses QB Dylan Raiola for the year in a tough loss to USC, Maryland fires Mike Locksley after several uneven seasons, and SMU stuns Miami in a game that could reshape the ACC race. We also look at Duke’s first win vs Clemson in Death Valley since 1980, Arizona State’s win over Iowa State, and how the national picture continues to tighten as we head into November.
